Friends of Hednesford Station

Station Volunteers
The rail industry is unique in having the support of an army of volunteers who ‘adopt’ their local stations and often find their own funding to plant, paint and help upgrade the environment to the benefit of the travelling public.

Nationally, ‘volunteer labour’ is valued at £15 per hour and at Hednesford our estimated collective donation to benefit local people and the rail industry is c£100,000 per annum.

We formed as a community group 9 years ago (January13th 2016) and we work freely as volunteers to connect our local community with the wider rail industry whilst leading on projects to upgrade stations along The Chase Line.
