WELCOME

David Wisehall, Friends of Hednesford Station and Fay Easton, West Midlands Railway with Network Rail volunteers working together on the annual 'Station Improvement Day' (2019)
We are a local community group who work freely as volunteers and are known as ‘friends of the station’.
We raise funds and provide volunteer work to bring local character and life to our local stations, supporting West Midlands Railway, local passengers and the town’s community.
Our work on the platforms and around the perimeter of the station helps to develop the economy of the town, strengthens the rail industry and enhances the experience of rail for the travelling public.
The value of our volunteering over the past seven years has been calculated at c£500,000 – made up by the freely supplied labour and grants secured to invest in and improve the station.
Alongside our week-to-week volunteer works, we have a ground-breaking project currently underway which is the installation of a Community Hub in a renovated rail carriage, surrounded by urban gardens at Hednesford Station.
We are also developing a Community Station Partnership to bring our neighbouring stations together, developing community engagement and platform enhancements to the stations along the line.
